I am one of those aunts who tries to buy educational toys, but they must be fun as well. I bought it for my 3 year old nephew, but my 7 year old niece loved it, too. It's a great way to practice their fine motor skills while they learn about colors, shapes, spatial awareness, etc. The baby needed some help at first getting the hang of the magnet pen, but he caught on quickly. He had a great time matching the colored dots to the ones on the pictures and making up designs of his own. For the 7 year old, I decided to make it a little harder. I didn't slide the guide picture in it and asked her to memorize it instead. It was difficult enough to hold her attention, but not too frustrating. It makes a good option for a travel toy because the pieces are trapped inside it and can't get lost.
My granddaughter can't put it down. Simple to use and has kept her amused for hours.

I gave this to my 4 year old for a roadtrip. It kept her occupied for at least 30 minutes, which is a long time for a short attention span. As long as the road isn’t too bumpy, this is a great distraction. Big plus is that it is quiet and doesn’t have small parts that can get lost in the car. You just have to keep tabs on the magnet pen. There is a spot to store it, but it is not secured to the board with a string while in use.
What a fun toy! The last 2 days it has been a source of arguments between the grand kids. They are 2, 4 and 7 so it appeals to all ages. I enjoy messing around with it too. Sturdy, it has survived being stepped on. The cover does scratch from the magnet wand but that was expected. Worth buying!
